The DispatchHealth Charge nurse is an experienced DispatchHealth Registered Nurse who exhibits exceptional leadership qualities. The role of the DispatchHealth Charge Nurse focuses on intra-day operations of the Nurse Advisor-Triage role and shift resource to the Nurse Advisor Assistant coordinator. The responsibility of this role is tied to the shift while acting as the Charge Nurse.
The charge nurse is responsible to evaluate the day for staffing, efficiencies, opportunities to optimize staffing and organizes the Nurse Advisor-Triage team in a manner that makes the best use of available resources, both personnel and material, and which take into account the knowledge, skills, and abilities of those persons who will be integral to the patient care process. The charge nurse provides ongoing coordination of work and resources as necessary to meet changing requirements in the work environment throughout the day.
Throughout the day, the charge nurse evaluates individual and collective outcomes of the patient care provided during their shift, compares patient outcomes to expected outcome, adjusts assignment of resources as necessary, and reports changing needs and outcomes to Senior Nurse Manager.
Because the charge nurse observes patient care delivery and outcomes as provided by coworkers, the charge nurse may be asked to contribute observations to individual employee evaluations, suggest competency evaluations, or to advise and educate fellow staff.
